Hero/Heroine

By New Wave Theatre Company

Performed at The Etcetera Theatre

,

New Wave Theatre Company present the world premiere of HERO/HEROINE. A dark and chilling one-act play by award-winning playwright Dave Florez, directed by Hanna Berrigan.

A bedsit in Camden.
Halloween night.
2012.

Nat pays her ex-boyfriend a visit, looking for closure. Through personal ghost stories that mirror true-life events, they open up old wounds and create new ones. Their story-telling crashes towards an inevitable, graphic climax.

Terrifying themes and images from their past culminate in a violent act of retribution. An unnerving and thrilling adult play, unfolding in real time.

‘A master class in everything right. The production is a powerhouse of acting, writing and directing…the script is chock-full of clever insights and hilariously filthy lines…a labyrinth of ideas, brilliantly questioning the very essence of what theatre is…a tour de force…do not miss this.’
★★★★★ Across The Arts Review

‘the script is so lithe it springs off in all directions…this a sharp, inventive piece of theatre, impeccably delivered…One of the cleverest theatrical twists I’ve seen, at this or any other Fringe. Dizzyingly brilliant stuff.’
